Chile

Chile is one of South America’s most secluded and best-kept secrets. Chile’s geography is probably the most unique in the world. It is an incredibly long country - 5,302 kilometres (3,313 miles) long and has an average width of 200 km (120 m) - with a huge coastline along the Pacific and bordered inland by the spectacular mountain ranges of the Andes. It seems that wherever you go in Chile you can see dramatic snow-capped mountains or volcanoes.

Chile is a country rich in natural assets with huge agricultural, fishing and mining interests and has one of the most successful economies at present in the world. Chileans are mainly of Spanish descent although there are also large British and German colonies also throughout the country.

The country is situated along the southwest coast of South America with the Pacific Ocean forming its western border, while the Andes Mountain range provides its eastern border with Argentina and Bolivia. The Atacama Desert borders Peru in the north and its southern territories extend to the South Pole. Chile’s Pacific territories also include Easter Island and Robinson Crusoe Island.
