Costa Rica

Costa Rica literally means “Rich Coast” and it was so named because of the gold ornaments which the indigenous inhabitants used to wear. Now we know the richness is not in gold, but in nature! Costa Rica is a small tropical country with a great variety of habitats, from the tropical dry forest and lowland to the rainforest and the paramo.

The national parks give visitors the opportunity of walking through a rainforest, hiking to the rim of a volcano, bathing in a sulphuric hot spring, or watching giant sea turtles nest along the beach. From the capital city San Jose, the closest beach on the Pacific is only an hour away, and in just two hours from the same city you can reach the Caribbean Ocean. It is an ideal destination for lovers of the outdoors with excellent wildlife and nature in a tropical atmosphere.

There is a wide variety of cuisines. Fresh fruit and vegetables are always available and fish from both oceans is in abundance. And a meal must always end with a delicious steaming cup of Costa Rican coffee, one of the best coffees in the World!
