Did you think Cancun was just about sun, sea and all-inclusive resorts? Well think again!

Whilst Cancun remains a firm favourite for beach lovers, there is so much more to do and see in its surrounding Yucatan Peninsula, making it a great choice for those looking to organise a truly memorable Incentive trip. With the imminent launch of direct British Airways flights from the UK, there really has never been a better time to explore this beautiful and intriguing part of Mexico. The flights to Cancun will start from November 2010 and will depart every Wednesday and Saturday from Gatwick airport, offering a choice of three cabins onboard the Boeing 777 including BA's Club World business class with fully flat beds.

This is welcome news as expressed by BA's Richard Tams, head of UK & Ireland sales and marketing; "We're delighted to be the only UK scheduled airline offering direct flights to Cancun. It is the perfect addition to our Gatwick long haul premium leisure network. As well as offering upmarket internationally recognised luxury hotels, unspoilt beaches and award winning golf courses and spas, it is also the gateway to the Yucatan Peninsula with its Mayan ruins and ancient history".

Interested? Then let SASPO help you provide your clients with a great mix of beach and adventure in this fantastic part of Mexico. Here is a sample Incentive itinerary to tickle those travel taste-buds...

DAY 1: CANCUN
Upon arrival in Cancun from the UK, transfer to the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental for an overnight stay. Welcome cocktail followed by dinner at the hotel.

DAY 2: CANCUN – VALLADOLID – CHICHEN ITZA
Breakfast at the hotel is followed by a transfer west and a tour around the famous historical site of Chichen Itza. Its extraordinary beauty and breathtaking location makes Chichen Itza one of the most visited archaeological sites on the Yucatan peninsula. Chichen Itza is also one of the 7 modern day wonders of the world. Transfer to the nearby accommodation for the evening; The Lodge at Chichen Itza. Optional activities available here include horse-riding, swimming, massage & spa treatments and an opportunity to re-visit Chichen Itza for sunset, before the evening's traditional dance & music show. An alternative afternoon option is a visit to a natural pool called the 'Sacred Blue Cenote' where you can swim under the waterfalls.

DAY 3: CHICHEN ITZA– MERIDA
Breakfast at the hotel before departing to the beautiful and traditional city of Izamal. Affectionately known as the 'Yellow city', Izamal makes you feel like you've stepped back in time and a morning city tour ensures you don't miss a thing. There is no better way to take it all in than seated in a beautiful horse-drawn 'Calesa'. Following the city tour, head on towards the 'White city' Merida, capital of the Yucatan state. Discover colonial Merida with its mansion houses and historical buildings from the 16th Century before checking-in to the Fiesta Americana Merida for a 3 night stay.

This traditional hacienda was once famous for its henequen (sisal) production and a tour here gives a true glimpse of what was once a fully operational Henequen Hacienda in the grand style and tradition of this period. Following this is a fascinating tour to the ruins of Uxmal. Uxmal is one of the greatest Mayan ceremonial centres and is considered one of the most beautiful pre-Hispanic archaeological sites on the American Continent. Return to Merida for dinner (Merida is famed throughout Mexico for its gastronomy) and overnight.
